M. D. Jackson has written non-fiction for both print and on the web for over forty years. He has been writing fiction since 2004 under the pseudonym Jack Mackenzie. He has worked professionally in the magazine, newspaper and book publishing industry. In 2008 he became co-publisher of Dark Worlds Magazine, which was one of the earliest magazines to be made available as an e-publication as well as a print magazine.
Since 2011 he has been the co-publisher of Rage Machine Books, a company that specializes in genre publications both for print and for the e-book market. He has also been an illustrator and assistant art director for several magazines including Amazing Stories Magazine.
He has held a firm stance against the use of AI in writing and art since 2022 which led to him becoming the principal plaintiff in a class action lawsuit brought against Open AI (the company behind Chat GPT) by Sisskinds Law Firm from Toronto, Ontario
He taught layout and design for print as well as magazine design for two years at the Center for Arts and Technology in Kelowna. As a freelancer he formats print books and magazines as well as e-books.
