Juanita Rose Violini

Murder Mystery Plot Consultant & Writer

Juanita Rose Violini began writing murder mysteries for industrial theatre (entertainment for corporate conventions) over 35 years ago. Her experience creating solvable plots quickly led her to develop The Mystery Bones Method—a unique, step-by-step visual system for plotting mysteries. Her self-guided course, The Mystery Bones Method DIAGRAMS, consists of nine diagrams that, once completed, allow you to write your mystery’s first draft from beginning to end without stopping.

Passionate about sharing the underlying structures of murder mystery storytelling, Juanita writes books and teaches these hidden principles in person, online, and at writers’ festivals and conventions—most recently Bouchercon Calgary 2026 and Bouchercon Kidscon 2026.

Juanita recently took a stab at her first piece of fiction: a short murder mystery set in her hometown of Banff, AB, in 1973. The story was accepted and recently published in Murder Most Alberta, a crime anthology from The Seventh Terrace.

Juanita is a member of Crime Writers of Canada and Sisters in Crime. She served as a judge for the 2025 Crime Writers of Canada Awards of Excellence and sat on the Bouchercon Calgary 2026 Anthology Committee.

Her interactive scripts continue to be purchased and performed globally. Her books and free mystery writing information are available through her website: mysteryfactory.com.
