Joy has had a lifelong love of words, language, storytelling, and books.
A former teacher, she loved watching her students learn to shape their relationship with the world around them through language. It was as much fun to share a first graders’ discoveries as hearing a struggling teenager find their voice or an adult finally unlocking the magic of literacy.
As an editor, her goal is to find the most effective ways to engage readers and tell stories – true and otherwise. And, of course, avoid obnoxious mistakes. She has edited memoirs, graduate theses and dissertations, technical reports, and children’s books.
She is currently a member of the Professional Editors Association of Vancouver Island (PEAVI) and Editors Canada (EC).
